Pipe Story
It all began in 2007 with a trip to South & Central America. There was a little road near our house in Belize, the tortilla lady would pass by every morning around 4:30am ringing the bell on her bicycle as though she were announcing the end of the world, not selling tortillas for a nickel. This road was so riddled with potholes that it was more like a trail than a certifiable street. Now &...

Landmarks
There are certain moments in life that are so pivotal that there becomes a “before” & an “after”. Most are beautiful moments, some are heart wrenching.
For example, after a severe diagnosis that turns your world upside down. Or before we made a solemn commitment to God & each to love no other until death parts us. Or after the birth of the first child, the one...
Travel Bug
I would like to be…
in Greece during the summer with my wardrobe consisting entirely of swimsuits & sundresses, staring mesmerized by the brilliant blue ocean. Going to market for falafels & leather goods, being awed by the Greek architecture & basking in the sun.
in Taiwan when the rice fields are just getting to be a lush green & the river near my old house is swollen...

Eyegate Media
The sweet sounds of Charlie Brown Christmas music are filling my ears as I sip a chai tea latte and…work. At least the first two things are rather festive & it really helps that I love what I do.
At the moment I’m in the Eyegate studio (new website launching in days) composed of Aaron Garcia, Matthew Barr, John Mueller, Courtney Bradford, Lindsey Bradford, & Bailey Barr. Two...
Dear mid-twenties male, I'm very sorry...
Mid twenties male: "You're very similar to my favourite holiday beverage... umm... well, you're both hot."
Rude starbucks barista: (Loud, spontaneous, uncontrollable laughter)
Mid twenties male: "Umm, uhhh, ermm." (Literally runs away)
"Do you know what I think?"
That’s what she said. Ever so matter-of-fact. I turned, & peered at her curiously, trying to decipher the statement that lay beyond the question. “What do you think, love?” I inquired. She paused, her mouth parted slightly then closed again as she tried to drudge up the right words. “I think,” she began, “I think that she will walk again.” Now it was...
Equally Unimportant
Keeg & I had a conversation last week about “social media” (can someone please come up with a new term already?). As I was trying to articulate the reasoning behind deleting my facebook account (don’t panic stalkers, I still have my twitter & gowalla), he said something brilliant that encapsulated my exact sentiment - “Things begin to become equally...

Project Christmas Part 3
This morning Chris got in touch with me to let me know that Renee had been rushed to the hospital for surgery. They removed a cyst & found another tumor on her back, which they will try to shrink with radiation, pending her recovery.
The first thought that crossed my mind was, not now. Not just before Christmas.
It felt as though the hopes I had built for Renee’s fight had been...

Project Christmas Update
I’m overwhelmed with all the responses I’ve received from people I’ve never met wanting to help the Bravo Family. Here is an update from the past 24 hours on all that has been given, & what we still need.
We have:
- a Christmas tree & all the trimmings
- Christmas decorations for the house
- a team of guys to do house repairs, build a ramp, widen doors & do yard...
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to...

Project Christmas
In the work I’ve been doing for the National Breast Cancer Foundation, I’ve met some absolutely inspiring women. The one who has left the biggest impression on me, is a lady named Renee. Diagnosed four years ago at the young age of 29 with stage 4 breast cancer that had spread throughout her body, the doctors gave her less than 6 months to live.
I first met Renee & her husband...
Love to Hate
Hating is such a popular thing. Learning how to hate the right thing at the right time has become somewhat of an art form in high schools, universities, work places & social circles around the country.
We hate on Justin Bieber, because I mean, who really likes that YouTube phenomenon anyway? We hate on TOMS, because they are just too trendy nowadays. We hate on whatever our friends happen to...
Photography by Jose Villa →
My roomie, Kelsey is a photographer (ps- her site says it has Malware, but I promise it doesn’t, something’s janky) so I’ve learned a thing or two from observation & I adore everything about Jose’s work. So indulge, let the light filtering through his shots please your eye & make your heart happy. It does mine.

Prayer
I’ve been thinking much about the power of prayer lately, these musings initially spurred on by my dear friend Gina, who asked, “Why don’t we pray?” And it’s true. I mean at mealtimes we may pause to murmur our thanks or in Sunday School we may mention a prayer request for school or health or such.. But REALLY praying is not something many people do, not even people who claim a religion based on a...

The premise is simple. A photograph captures Jenn’s morning eats. Why I find this so thrilling, I’m not certain.
Craigslist?
Submitting a post to Craigslist is proclaiming to the world that you are incapable of finding that thing you need without the help of another human being. Whether a personal ad, to find Mister Right, an ad in the platonic relationship section to find friends (yes, I actually did that once) or an ad looking to hire someone because no one you know is capable.
Today I find myself posting the last...
